It has been a good Easter weekend - a celebration for
all of us. We're very proud of Austin for making
the most important decision of their lives and following through with
baptism.
We have attended Lakeview Church off and on in the past five years.
When John did his MBA in Saskatoon the boys and I often drove into the
city for the weekend and we attended the Saturday night service as a
family. John's personal theology tends towards the Free Methodists, so
he really appreciates Lakeview. I'm still very Mennonite Brethren in my
views, but I look to John to be the spiritual head of our family. We still attend the BIC here in Kindersley
and John and Josh are happily involved in the Youth program. Around the
time of the annual meeting back in February we observed several "power
plays" going on and it brought back negative memories from the two
churches that John pastored - one an MB church and the other a Free
Methodist. From our experience, pastors don't win power plays, and we
decided to distance ourselves for a little while, so we've driven to
Saskatoon for church a couple of times in March. Austin heard the
announcements about baptism on Easter Sunday and simply stated he wanted
to be baptized. The other two have already been baptized, also at a
young age, so we supported his decision and are celebrating with him.
